TDawg Presents brings you the finest in music that heals the soul and brings life to your life. You KNOW that a TDawg show will always be a solid show!
The 8th Annual Atlanta Holiday Hootenanny is dedicated to the memory of the late great fiddler Vassar Clements, whose career spanned seven decades. Vassar performed alongside many musical luminaries, including Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, Linda Ronstadt, Jerry Garcia, Peter Rowan, David Grisman, Stephane Grappelli, Dicky Betts, John Hartford, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Col. Bruce Hampton and so many more. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him and get to know him on a personal level. On a side note, Vassar first performed with Col. Bruce at HarvestFest in 1999. The WOW factor was in full effect needless to say as Vassar simply tore it up on “Time is Free” that also featured Barry Richman on guitar.
Please plan to join us on Thursday, December 20 for our “annual holiday party” that never fails to provide a WOW factor by the end, and rest assured this one will be no different!

~ THE HARVEST FAMILY HOOT IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT
================================================
As we get closer to THE weekend of The Harvest Family Hoot, I’ve been pondering what this event represents beyond a celebration of 20 years & going strong. We are gathering for what promises to be an absolutely amazing collaboration of musicians Friday night, all day Saturday and into the late night, yet I have come to the realization that this event is as much a segue way to another 20 years of reinvention and ways to bring music to the community, be it through the Frank Hamilton School or creating fresh community events that impact my immediate surroundings in the greater Atlanta area. I’m not sure what the future brings as far as camping events are concerned; I am certain that TDawg Presents will continue to provide a reason for folks with different ideals and beliefs – religious, political & otherwise – to enjoy the music together, as music is a strong common bond. It’s important to be reminded in such a polarizing world in which we live that there is more opportunity to unite than divide. I intend to do my part with the former rather than the latter.
I hope that you can join us this weekend – I know that you’ll leave with renewed energy for life and purpose. HOOOOOOOOTENANNY!

Mark your calendar for the weekend of April 6-7, 2018 for a celebration of 20 years of TDawg Presents (aka TDawg’s Productions, Eye Dawg Productions) bringing concerts to Atlanta and the Southeast at our home away from home, Cherokee Farms!
Y’all this one promises to be one for the ages. The acts present this year represent a span of the entire 20 years, and I only wish that I had been able to bring everyone that has been such a big part of many magical musical moments! The lineup is as follows:
We are just two weeks out from what promises to be one of the finest concerts of the year, celebrating life, music, family, friendship, and charity. One artist whose talent, friendship and love of family is undeniable is Grammy-winning percussionist Count M’Butu. His return to the Holiday Hootenanny has been four years in the making. We in the Atlanta music community and the Col. Bruce army of fans, musicians, writers, promoters, and friends are overjoyed to have him back in our mix and a part of the Holiday Hoot! Part of legendary Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit in the early ’90s – in my eyes one of the greatest bands of all-time – as well as the Derek Trucks Band for many years after that, Count’s presence in the Atlanta music scene has a special place, and as a long-time friend of mine, I personally cannot WAIT to see him back on the Holiday Hootenanny stage! The video below is from the 2nd Annual edition of the Holiday Hoot, and features Count M’Butu SINGING Willie Nelson’s classic “Always On My Mind” with the help of some friends, about as real and genuine as it gets. Enjoy!

Thursday, December 1 will be a very exciting and enjoyable performance by two bands that bring the sounds of the 1920’s ragtime jazz sound, performing classics from the era as well as traditionals and originals! Tray Dahl & The Jugtime Ragbandand The Clams featuring Frank Hamilton, L.A. Tuten & Bill Rutan are a perfect blend of the music, and trust me when I say you won’t go home disappointed! This show will mark the final 2016 perfomance at the Red Light Cafe as part of the Frank Hamilton School Concert Series, which will pick back up on Saturday, January 7 and feature a strong Americana co-bill with Dusty Roads and C.J. Jones & The Spirit Bones.

Only eight spaces remain for this one-of-a-kind workshop with the extraordinary Joe Craven!
Joe Craven teaches musical improvisation more from a theater model rather than the requisite model of jazz. Therefore, this is not an ability-based class. If you’re an advanced player seeking a ‘theory & technique’-oriented foray into improvisation from a jazz architecture, this class is not that, yet may be still an enlightening experience for you. Joe connects improvisation to what you already do and moves you forward from there. We’ll focus on ways to think about sound, embrace fearlessness, and address the connection between spoken-word language and the language of music.
Showing up empty-handed, embracing mistakes and learning the value of losing control are some of what we’ll explore. Lots of exercises, with & without instruments in your hands to engage, and free yourself to play with others in new ways. The class will stretch you and may well change some of your perceptions of what music is. It’s a fun and enlightening romp!
Joe is first and foremost a creative force of nature and, as a workshop leader or motivational speaker for the arts, he is without peer.
— Jim Magill, Director – The Swannanoa Gathering Folk Workshops / Black Mountain, NC
