Well folks, as I’ve completed my 50th revolution around the sun and begun my 51st, there’s nothing like some excellent musical opportunities to continue the celebration well into the summer. The month of July provides you with two opportunities to attend some stellar TDawg Presents shows (indoors in the AC!) – July 20 featuring Strung Like A Horse w/ special guest Hair of the Dog AND July 29 featuring the 11th Annual Jerry Day ATL! Please continue reading for more information about each of these events!
I know it’s only the 3rd week in June, but plans are well underway for the 8th Annual Atlanta Holiday Hootenanny to happen on Thursday, December 20, and once again it will benefit Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. TDawg Presents has donated over $11,000 the last five years. I am excited to announce that TDawg Presents will be taking the Holiday Hoot back to its original home, the Variety Playhouse! This edition, as all the previous have been, will be extra special – as it will feature a wonderful dedication to the late great fiddler, Vassar Clements. The first time he performed with Col. Bruce Hampton was HarvestFest in 1999 with Bruce’s band at the time, Planet Zambie, that featured Barry Richman on guitar and Dr. Dan on the keyboards. Bruce crowned him the “King of Kings”. The version of “Time is Free” that came out of that set was absolutely over the top! Vassar & I became good friends, and I feel fortunate that we were able to enjoy his music for a few more years before his passing in 2005. Expect a stellar group of musicians to be involved the celebration of one of the greatest masters of music in the modern era! More to come in the next couple of months.
