HOOTENANNY 10 Days Away! Artist preview: Rolling Nowhere & Strung Like A Horse

9 Sep

Well folks we’re only 10 days out from what promises to be one of the finest Hootenannies yet September 19-20!  You can get your advance tickets by visiting the official TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny page and clicking on either FRI-SAT or SAT only – both include camping!

Atlanta’s Rolling Nowhere just successfully completed their first tour out West, and let’s just say it rejuvenated and inspired the fellas, and they’re gonna bring it to you on Saturday afternoon September 20!  Below is a live video from a performance in Nashville a few months back, showcasing their rockin’ and raucous sound – comin’ right atcha!

Chattanooga’s own Strung Like A Horse has been tearing it up for several years now, and TDawg Presents is excited to have them as a staple of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny!  Their unique brand of music, which they affectionately describe as Gypsy-Punk-Garage-Grass, will have you boogeyin’ late into the night!  Check’em out below in a clip from Music City Roots.

Y’all this is going to be a BIG time!  Don’t miss out on it – get your tickets now!

TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny Just One Month Out! Sept 19-20!

20 Aug

2014 Fall Hoot poster (web)

We are just ONE MONTH out from what promises to be one of the finest parties of the fall season in TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny! It’s not often that one of the musicians involved (Jared Womack) just won the dobro competition at the nationally renown RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival in Lyons, CO.  It’s not often that the caliber of musicians present all weekend long are so stellar, full of amazing energy from various musical styles including blues, bluegrass, jazz, Americana, Southern rock, and singer-songwriter!  The cross-pollination of musicians is going to be at an extremely high level, so be ready for the unexpected!

**Please consider purchasing your ADVANCE TICKETS NOW to help forward the cause, especially if you know you’re going.  Don’t be bashful – share this event with your friends and family.  They’ll have as much  fun as YOU will!

If camping isn’t your thing necessarily, there are two hotels down the road about two miles that are easy to get to.  Please go to the event page for that and other information including the schedule and links to each artist!

While I don’t anticipate  the legendary Johnny Knapp making the journey to Cherokee Farms to play with Col. Bruce Hampton & The Madrid Express, I can’t resist putting this video on here from the Red Light Cafe in December the night before the Holiday Hootenanny.  A nice Zambi moment for your afternoon.  HOOOOOOOOOOTENANNY!!!

7th Annual Jerry Day a Success!!! Summer Hoot Aug 9!

28 Jul

Gans'n'Grapes

Great times last night as we celebrated the life and music of Jerry Garcia!  It was an amazing energy that flowed from the first note at 3PM all the way through non-stop until 12:15AM – it was fairly mind-blowing to tell you the truth, and as I like to put it (because it’s true!), the musicians brought their A Game to the forefront!  As not one song was repeated all day long, each song was a gem.  Highlights included slide master Benji Shanks joining Atlanta favorite Swami Gone Bananas, Deep Blue Sun’s entire set and David Gans’s set with 5 members of The Grapes joining the mix!  Really though, the entire day was one long great highlight.

Congratulation to Lewis Newmark and Jim Roe, whose vision this has been since the get go, and special THANKS our sponsors – VIDA-FLO Hydration Station, Terrapin Beer Co. and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., to all the crew at Terminal West for their outstanding service and help, Paul Dunaway for the stellar sound on the Terrapin Stage, Wildman Steve & Spike for their (as always) amazing job at emcees, and Jessi Leigh Harris and Linda Brackner for coordinating the fine vending there.  This journey turned a corner yesterday, and I know that TDawg Presents is looking forward to continuing the magic with all these kind folks NEXT year at Terminal West!  Truly, what a long strange trip it’s been.  Keep on truckin’ y’all!!!

======

PLEASE come on out SAT AUG 9 to the first edition of TDAWG’s SUMMER HOOT at Music On Main Street.  Tickets are $20 at the gate and $15 advance.  Music starts at 4:30PM with The Jugtime Ragband followed by jazz/funk trio DynOMite at 6PM followed by jazz/funk master Grant Green Jr at 8PM to close out the evening!  BYOB, bring a picnic if you’d like, Kids 12 & under are FREE, a pub is conveniently located next door 😉

24 Jul

Hootenanny Fall 2014 Handbill back-01

Howdy y’all!  Jason Kenney was invited to open for Amy Ray (Indigo Girls) on a series of five dates, of which one is Saturday, September 20.  Congrats to Jason on this great opportunity – it’s always great to see folks from Hootenanny family do right!

Please welcome up and coming vocalist Hannah Zale into the Hootenanny mix!  A bright rising star who resides in Athens, GA, Hannah will turn some heads!

Hannah Zale  Ted Norton

Also, TDawg Presents is excited to have the superior guitar mastery of Ted Norton (The Grapes, Ralph Roddenbery Band) joining the Fall Hoot as an at-large artist!  Ted will also be performing on Friday night as part of Sam French & Friends!

The Hootenanny movement doesn’t skip a beat, and you know it’s going to be off the chains this fall.  Meanwhile, don’t forget to mark your calendar for Saturday, August 9, at Music On Main Street in Lilburn, GA for the first installment of TDawg’s Summer Hoot!  The lineup features the legendary Grant Green Jr., jazz/funk trio DynOMite, and local rising band The Jugtime Ragband.
