I feel so blessed to have met many amazing people because of Col. Bruce Hampton, and one that sticks out is the legendary Jazz pianist Johnny Knapp. The man has performed with a who’s who of jazz music, including Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, and the list goes on. At age 89, he is still actively performing, and I can’t wait to see him on stage in just five days paying tribute to his good friend. I recall meeting him five years ago at the 2nd Annual Holiday Hoot when Bruce introduced us before the show, and I haven’t looked back. I am fortunate to be a part of the Tuesday lunch crowd with Johnny when I can make it, and it’s always a treat.
