TDawg Presents Oct/Nov/Holiday Hoot!

Well, that Hootenanny sure was fun wasn’t it!? Funny how Hoots occur, without fail, exactly when you really need that energy the most. I know that I’m certainly still feeling the fresh grooves that WE created at the Hootenanny! The Hootenanny movement is unique in that it combines that festivaaal vibe with the feeling that you’re at an exclusive private party, and it works for everyone involved. HOOOOOTENANNY!!!

COMING UP this month on Sunday October 26, TDawg Presents a special Sunday evening triple bill at the Red Light Cafe featuring The Ragbirds, songwriter duo Shawn Spencer & Colin Vinson (from Seven Handle Circus), and Battlefield Collective. It’s an early show, with doors at 6:30pm, showtime at 7:20pm, and The Ragbirds will take the stage about 9pm. Grab a sitter for the evening (if you have to!) and reward yourself with a nice evening out and some FANTASTIC music. ADVANCE TICKETS are $15/$18 Door. Do yourselves and the show a favor and get your tickets ahead of time – well worth taking the time to do so!

Coming in November, TDawg Presents is excited to bring Secondhand Swagger and their homemade brand of Southern-fried Soul & Norfolk, VA’s favorite rock’n’soul revue Major & The Monbacks to the Red Light Cafe on Thursday, November 13 for a night of old school funk! Adv tix $10 ($12 Door) will be available soon! Doors 8pm, Showtime 9pm. Let’s blow the roof off the place!

Before you know it, we’re gonna be having the holiday office party of the year in the form of The 4th Annual Atlanta’s Holiday Hootenanny on Sunday, December 21 at Terminal West! Once again, and hopefully for many years to come, the concert is a Benefit for Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and there will be a silent auction taking place before and during the event.

Stay tuned for complete details, including advance ticket info. Initial lineup to be announced soon, with some familiar faces and some fresh ones interspersed amongst to make this Holiday Hoot the finest yet!

Well folks we’re heading to the mountains now, the weather is going to be amazing this weekend so come on up and enjoy in the music and outdoor lovin’ shenanigans! Music starts tonight at 9:30 PM with Sam French & Friends, tomorrow at 12:30PM with Hannah Zale! Please feel free to stay as long as you need to on Sunday!

We’re gonna miss our good buddy Ralph Roddenbery this time around, so here’s a gem from last year’s Fall Hoot on the Grateful Fred Stage. Pushin’ on a Pull Door!

My how time flies! Here we are the week of the 17th edition of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny y’all! The temperature will be just right for a big ol’ bonfire, and the music will keep you moving all day and all night!

If you’ve not had a chance yet to catch Col. Bruce Hampton, mark my words you’re in for a special treat. His shows seem to always fit the moment, never a weak link. The Zambi master will bring it on Saturday evening, you know that for certain. Below is a fun clip from last year’s 3rd Annual Atlanta’s Holiday Hootenanny in December (mark your calendars for SUN DEC 21 and the 4th Annual Holiday Hoot!)

Freddy’s Finest has evolved into quite the funk/jazz ensemble that can really tear it up. A perfect for the 6:30pm set on the Grateful Fred Stage, and an ideal band to directly precede Col. Bruce! Check out their Lettuce jam from the Moonshadow Tavern not too long ago. Let’s just say it’s a very involved jam where each participating musician brings it!

Wow y’all! We sure have rounded that corner quickly, and the 17th installment of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny is just about here! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and that your team won! 😉

Now that we’re into September and just over two weeks out, you can clear your head for a moment and realize that you not only WANT to go to Hootenanny, but you also NEED to go! The amazing energy that is created at Cherokee Farms – the camaraderie of your friends, camping neighbors and musicians – the spontaneity of the jams – the amazing flow of this tightly wound small festie that releases a giant multi-layered musical explosion – the knowledge that you WILL hear something you’ve not heard before and it will make an impact on your already impeccable musical tastes. Speaking of soul, check out this southern soulful groove laid down by Secondhand Swagger! These folks will be rockin’ the infamous “Happy Hour Set” from 5-6:30PM on SAT Sept 20! And folks, the musical mojo will kickin’ hard that day!

For those of you who are not familiar with Sam French, well that’s a great reason to show up on Friday night, September 19, at the Hootenanny! This man is drenched in southern, his style genuine, and his product real. Ted Norton, guitarist for The Grapes, will be joining Sam’s band that night and also be around all weekend long sitting in as an artist-at-large. 7th Annual Jerry Day a Success!!! Summer Hoot Aug 9!

Great times last night as we celebrated the life and music of Jerry Garcia! It was an amazing energy that flowed from the first note at 3PM all the way through non-stop until 12:15AM – it was fairly mind-blowing to tell you the truth, and as I like to put it (because it’s true!), the musicians brought their A Game to the forefront! As not one song was repeated all day long, each song was a gem. Highlights included slide master Benji Shanks joining Atlanta favorite Swami Gone Bananas, Deep Blue Sun’s entire set and David Gans’s set with 5 members of The Grapes joining the mix! Really though, the entire day was one long great highlight.

Congratulation to Lewis Newmark and Jim Roe, whose vision this has been since the get go, and special THANKS our sponsors – VIDA-FLO Hydration Station, Terrapin Beer Co. and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., to all the crew at Terminal West for their outstanding service and help, Paul Dunaway for the stellar sound on the Terrapin Stage, Wildman Steve & Spike for their (as always) amazing job at emcees, and Jessi Leigh Harris and Linda Brackner for coordinating the fine vending there. This journey turned a corner yesterday, and I know that TDawg Presents is looking forward to continuing the magic with all these kind folks NEXT year at Terminal West! Truly, what a long strange trip it’s been. Keep on truckin’ y’all!!!

Howdy y’all! Jason Kenney was invited to open for Amy Ray (Indigo Girls) on a series of five dates, of which one is Saturday, September 20. Congrats to Jason on this great opportunity – it’s always great to see folks from Hootenanny family do right!

Please welcome up and coming vocalist Hannah Zale into the Hootenanny mix! A bright rising star who resides in Athens, GA, Hannah will turn some heads!

Also, TDawg Presents is excited to have the superior guitar mastery of Ted Norton (The Grapes, Ralph Roddenbery Band) joining the Fall Hoot as an at-large artist! Ted will also be performing on Friday night as part of Sam French & Friends!

The Hootenanny movement doesn’t skip a beat, and you know it’s going to be off the chains this fall. 7th Annual Jerry Day ATL on SUN JULY 27!

The summer keeps on truckin’ along, which means it’s time for the 7th Annual Jerry Day ATL at Terminal West this Sunday, July 27! We are extremely excited to bring to you a wonderful showcase of the music that was/is The Grateful Dead and the spirit that envelops music fans of all ages. Out of this spirit arises interest in the world of roots music – bluegrass, blues, jazz, classic/outlaw country to name a few genres under the umbrella – which is what has been at the epicenter of the Dead’s sound and style.

You can purchase your advance tickets online at the Terminal West website or at the box office TUE-FRI 11AM-5PM and on show nights. Advance tickets are also available at Maple Street Guitars and The Chamblee Bistro.

TDawg Presents is excited to bring internationally acclaimed performing artists The Duhks back to Atlanta! “Canada’s premier neo-tradsters romp from world-beat to blues, urban-pop to old-timey, with wild-eyed invention, haunting traditionalism, and spine-rattling groove.” (Scott Alarik, The Boston Globe)

Opening the evening is the amazing Rev. Jeff Mosier! Expect the unexpected on this one, y’all. You don’t want to miss this show. The Duhks haven’t been through Atlanta in several years, and we have them in the intimate and friendly confines of The Red Light Cafe!

TDawg Presents is very excited to welcome back Caroline Pond to the Red Light Cafe, on Cinco de Mayo no less! She will be joined by old friends Ami Worthen and Jason Kreckel for what promises to be quite the fun night of music, more than anyone deserves on a Monday night especially!

ADMISSION: $50 adv only for afternoon session, $5 cover after 5:30pm

SpringFest will be featuring a Beer and Food tasting event from 1pm-4pm, featuring food from Twain’s, Leon’s Full Service, Pinewood Tippling Room, Steinbeck’s, and Pine Street Market. Each restaurant is being paired with a local brewery, Blue Tarp, Wild Heaven, 3 Taverns, and Ale Yeah and Twain’s are making a special beer for the event.

Music during this time will be provided by Ralph Roddenbery, who will perform two sets!

ADV TIX are $50 and inlcude 5 tastes from 5 chefs, with beer pairings, and a commemorative glass, and all proceeds go to the ACFB!
