I can speak for a lot of folks whose lives have been touched greatly by the music of BGUG and the musicians involved. All are selfless individuals who care about the whole much more than the individual parts. I spent many hours in the car traveling to see these fellas, as did an amazing group of friends. The musicians who will be present as Blueground Undergrass on Sunday, December 21 include the following:
Rev. Jeff Mosier
Johnny Mosier
David Blackmon
Mark Van Allen
Vic Stafford
Edward Hunter

TDawg Presents is thrilled to announce the initial lineup for the 4th edition of Atlanta’s Holiday Hootenanny! There will be just a handful of musicians added to this list in the next month or so, so stay tuned! This concert is for a great cause in Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. I personally have become more involved with Atlanta Habitat over the last few years indirectly through my catering work and very much feel the difference that this wonderful organization and the people involved make in a family’s life.
Stay tuned for more information coming soon – PLEASE spread the good word, round up your friends and family for an absolutely incredible evening of music and fun, and all the while supporting Atlanta Habitat! HOOT HOOT!!
Well, that Hootenanny sure was fun wasn’t it!? Funny how Hoots occur, without fail, exactly when you really need that energy the most. I know that I’m certainly still feeling the fresh grooves that WE created at the Hootenanny! The Hootenanny movement is unique in that it combines that festivaaal vibe with the feeling that you’re at an exclusive private party, and it works for everyone involved. HOOOOOTENANNY!!!

If you’ve not had a chance yet to catch Col. Bruce Hampton, mark my words you’re in for a special treat. His shows seem to always fit the moment, never a weak link. The Zambi master will bring it on Saturday evening, you know that for certain. Below is a fun clip from last year’s 3rd Annual Atlanta’s Holiday Hootenanny in December (mark your calendars for SUN DEC 21 and the 4th Annual Holiday Hoot!)
Freddy’s Finest has evolved into quite the funk/jazz ensemble that can really tear it up. A perfect for the 6:30pm set on the Grateful Fred Stage, and an ideal band to directly precede Col. Bruce! Check out their Lettuce jam from the Moonshadow Tavern not too long ago. Let’s just say it’s a very involved jam where each participating musician brings it!

Now that we’re into September and just over two weeks out, you can clear your head for a moment and realize that you not only WANT to go to Hootenanny, but you also NEED to go! The amazing energy that is created at Cherokee Farms – the camaraderie of your friends, camping neighbors and musicians – the spontaneity of the jams – the amazing flow of this tightly wound small festie that releases a giant multi-layered musical explosion – the knowledge that you WILL hear something you’ve not heard before and it will make an impact on your already impeccable musical tastes. These are all great qualities of what a Hootenanny is at the core, a joyful healing and re-energizing experience for the mind, body and soul. TICKETS & LODGING INFO

For those of you who are not familiar with Sam French, well that’s a great reason to show up on Friday night, September 19, at the Hootenanny! This man is drenched in southern, his style genuine, and his product real. Ted Norton, guitarist for The Grapes, will be joining Sam’s band that night and also be around all weekend long sitting in as an artist-at-large. Below is some fine video of Sam and his band performing an original, “Few Regrets”. Enjoy!
We are just ONE MONTH out from what promises to be one of the finest parties of the fall season in TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny! It’s not often that one of the musicians involved (Jared Womack) just won the dobro competition at the nationally renown RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival in Lyons, CO. It’s not often that the caliber of musicians present all weekend long are so stellar, full of amazing energy from various musical styles including blues, bluegrass, jazz, Americana, Southern rock, and singer-songwriter! The cross-pollination of musicians is going to be at an extremely high level, so be ready for the unexpected!
**Please consider purchasing your ADVANCE TICKETS NOW to help forward the cause, especially if you know you’re going. Don’t be bashful – share this event with your friends and family. They’ll have as much fun as YOU will!
If camping isn’t your thing necessarily, there are two hotels down the road about two miles that are easy to get to. Please go to the event page for that and other information including the schedule and links to each artist!
While I don’t anticipate the legendary Johnny Knapp making the journey to Cherokee Farms to play with Col. Bruce Hampton & The Madrid Express, I can’t resist putting this video on here from the Red Light Cafe in December the night before the Holiday Hootenanny. A nice Zambi moment for your afternoon. HOOOOOOOOOOTENANNY!!!
