The amazing energy that is created at Cherokee Farms – the camaraderie of your friends, camping neighbors and musicians – the spontaneity of the jams – the amazing flow of this tightly wound small festie that releases a giant multi-layered musical explosion – the knowledge that you WILL hear something you’ve not heard before and it will make an impact on your already impeccable musical tastes. These are all great qualities of what a Hootenanny is at the core, a joyful healing and re-energizing experience for the mind, body and soul. TICKETS & LODGING INFO
Speaking of soul, check out this southern soulful groove laid down by Secondhand Swagger! These folks will be rockin’ the infamous “Happy Hour Set” from 5-6:30PM on SAT Sept 20! And folks, the musical mojo will kickin’ hard that day!
For those of you who are not familiar with Sam French, well that’s a great reason to show up on Friday night, September 19, at the Hootenanny! This man is drenched in southern, his style genuine, and his product real. Ted Norton, guitarist for The Grapes, will be joining Sam’s band that night and also be around all weekend long sitting in as an artist-at-large. Below is some fine video of Sam and his band performing an original, “Few Regrets”. Enjoy!
We are just ONE MONTH out from what promises to be one of the finest parties of the fall season in TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny! It’s not often that one of the musicians involved (Jared Womack) just won the dobro competition at the nationally renown RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival in Lyons, CO. It’s not often that the caliber of musicians present all weekend long are so stellar, full of amazing energy from various musical styles including blues, bluegrass, jazz, Americana, Southern rock, and singer-songwriter! The cross-pollination of musicians is going to be at an extremely high level, so be ready for the unexpected!

While I don’t anticipate the legendary Johnny Knapp making the journey to Cherokee Farms to play with Col. Bruce Hampton & The Madrid Express, I can’t resist putting this video on here from the Red Light Cafe in December the night before the Holiday Hootenanny. A nice Zambi moment for your afternoon. HOOOOOOOOOOTENANNY!!!
TDawg Presents is excited to bring FREDDY’S FINEST into the Hootenanny family mix! These soulful funk’n’groovers also serve as Jimmy Hall’s (from Wet Willie) band, so you KNOW there’s some southern soul going on inside these fellas!

Y’all this Hootenanny is overflowing with talent, most of it being relatively unknown outside of the region but absolutely as good as it gets. Like all the other Hootenannies, TDawg Presents prides itself on the ability to harvest the up and coming talent to produce an event that is as fresh as it gets, and you come to expect the unexpected.
We are thrilled to have Music On Main Street as the sponsor for the Grateful Fred Stage, and Tree Sound Studios will be once again manning the Shed Stage, as they have for every Hoot! Light Show Design will be running the lights for the third consecutive Hootenanny.
Please encourage your friends and family to come on out, come on up, come on over, and get yourself ready for quite a ride that’ll leave you grinning from ear to ear by the end!
We are now only 10 days out from the 16th edition of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny, a tradition since 2006 y’all! A special Saturday morning (April 5) get up and moving session will take place from 11am-12:30 on the Grateful Fred Stage for a short hoop workshop brought to you by Jessi “HoopJ” Harris. Even if you haven’t hula hooped in your life, Jessi can teach you a few beginner tricks. After a short beginner introductory lesson, experienced hoopers are welcome to learn advanced tricks with single, double and triple hoops! What a great way to get your day going! Trampoline not included.

One quality of the Hoots I appreciate so much as a producer and presenter is the fact that every set is a showcase set. With such a limited number of slots, it is so much fun to prepare a schedule with the anticipated artist interaction and cross-pollination of bands that creates an extra layer of musical ecstasy for the audience. The day turns into a dizzying display of musicianship topped off with great friends, family, and new friends!
I hope y’all can plan to join us in just two weekends. Please feel free help the cause and purchase your advance tickets NOW! Regardless, spread the good word, and start practicing your Hootenanny battle cry for the midnight hour on Saturday night 😉 Be sure to come out Friday night for a very special evening of jams by road warriors Big Daddy Love on the Shed Stage with a mighty fine collection of special guests to join the madness!
I couldn’t resist adding the below video captured last fall of David Via & Curtis Burch w/ special guests Larry & Jenny Keel performing Via’s classic “Corn Liquor” – enjoy!
I am very excited to welcome to the Hootenanny family the band Seven Handle Circus(performing 9:30pm on Shed Stage, April 5) from Atlanta! This sextet brings it every time and has been paving nice roads around the Southeast since they formed in 2010, and their music has been described as “bad-ass bluegrass” with the “drive and energy of a rock band.” Chandler May from Atlanta Music Guide sums it up nicely following a performance where they performed as a trio (Seven Handle Sideshow), opening for Justin Townes Earle in December of 2012 ~
“Their songs have the pop sensibility of Mumford and Sons and the joie de vivre of Yonder Mountain String Band. Folky three part harmonies filled the air as the Sideshow plucked their way through many original numbers, my favorite being “I’ve Been Around The World“. The opening guitar riff immediately grabs you, and the hook most definitely ‘brings you back’.”
Here’s a clip from their most recent performance at Terminal West last year. Needless to say, they have that “it” factor going on!

Moontower returns for a second appearance (performing 11:30pm on Shed Stage, April 5) at TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny, and folks are pumped! These fellas have built quite the loyal following and for good reason. Mixing a strong dose of original material with the perfect covers, their music propels your groove as well as any fine jam ever has. The video below is from their previous Hootenanny appearance in September of 2012 performing an epic 27 minute jam with the help of Benji Shanks on slide guitar that is one of the more unlikely medleys you’ve heard in a while. Enjoy!
Here is the initial schedule for the 16th Edition of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny on April 4-5 at Cherokee Farms in LaFayette, GA! Please note that the schedule is subject to change – HOOOOOOOOOOOOTENANNY y’all!
