Waller     Lindsay Rakers

WALLER w/ special guest Lindsay Rakers Duo

@ Steve’s Live Music, Friday June 14!!!

234 Hilderbrand Dr., Sandy Springs, GA 30328

8pm, $12 door, click here

“Waller draws on bluegrass, gospel, boogie-woogie and down-home country folk music for its satisfying sound, captured with natural warmth on a new, self-pressed CD titled My Poor Queen. I’m impressed most by the pure, disarming qualities of [Jason] Waller’s and co-vocalist Tiffany Leigh Blalock’s voices, and the way the players don’t force unnecessary brawn onto the songs, a la the Avett Brothers and too many other young bands. They simply let them flow naturally, and they’re wonderful.”

Rebecca Frazier2

Compass Records Recording Artist (CD Release) Rebecca Frazier and Hit & Run Bluegrass Band

THUR JUNE 7, 6pm doors/jam – 9pm start, $8

The Red Light Cafe

“Rebecca Frazier is a triple threat.  She is a wonderfully engaging singer, a compelling songwriter and an accomplished guitarist to boot.  All of these talents come together to dazzling effect on When We Fall.  I’m proud of Rebecca for recording one of the best bluegrass albums I’ve heard this year.  -Alison Brown (Grammy winner and owner, Compass Records)

turnpike troubadours

Turnpike Troubadors

SAT JUNE 9, 8pm doors, $10 adv/$12 door

Peachtree Tavern (Buckhead)

“The most unjustly overlooked Americana album of 2012 was the Turnpike Troubadours’ “Goodbye Normal Street.” It wasn’t just that singer-songwriter Evan Felker portrayed a young man’s reckless gambles and painful consequences in smart, sly lyrics. The rest of Felker’s Oklahoma quintet captured that combination of hope and hurt in edgy arrangements that integrated fiddle, banjo, mandolin and accordion into a hillbilly-rock band. Whether it originates from curving two-lane blacktops, a pretty rich girl or an army enlistment, the whiff of danger in these songs is thrilling.”

Circus Tent Acoustic Stage @ Hootenanny!

5 Apr

sunset 2

As I hear some Jim Lauderdale on the radio right now, I’m excited to announce that we’re going to have a spontaneous second stage underneath the brand new circus tent!  Thanks to property owner Smokey Caldwell for replacing the old one.  We will be featuring acoustic sets throughout the day and evening on Saturday between main stage sets, so walk on over and be a part of some magic!

The weather is going to be OUTSTANDING this weekend, beginning this afternoon when all the clouds lift for a magical afternoon and evening to unfold into some fantastic jams under the stars.  Tomorrow we’ll be hitting 70 degrees but bring some warm clothes for the evening.

I don’t know about you, but this weekend is just what the doctor has ordered for big ol’ TDawg!  Can’t wait to see y’all out there!

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTENANNY!!!

Last day for Advance Ticket Sales and a FREE CD for the Hootenanny, April 5-6!

(Grammy Winner Jim Lauderdale pictured w/ Rev. Jeff Mosier last weekend at Suwannee Springfest, no doubt discussing their set on SAT APR 6, 7pm!)

Advance ticket sales will be pulled from online at 11:30pm TONIGHT!  So, this is your last chance to get yours early and each advance purchase receives a free compilation CD from either HARVESTFEST 2000 or KEEL FAMILY FUNCTION 2010.  Trust me when I tell you that you’ll be hooked to either one of these recordings!

We’re excited as all get out about this upcoming weekend!  The weather clears tomorrow morning for a beautiful FRI-SAT combo of days, so come on out tomorrow evening and get your camp set up!  Gate opens around 3pm on FRI and 8am SAT.  We have a couple of bands tomorrow night – Chattanooga’s own Nothing & The Nobodies opens at 9pm followed by the Red Clay Revival!  Not to mention some jams under the stars to take you into the late night hours if you desire!  As usual, we will have superior sound provided by Tree Sound Studios and Tree Leaf Music that is also wind & solar-powered.

Long-time Hootenanny attendee (aka Hooteneers) Stephen Harris summed it up nicely – and is spot on – in a post on the TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny event page on Facebook this morning, stating the following:

“Hi People. I live up in NW Georgia and while it is raining now it will be sunny tomorrow. I know some of you may be worried about mud and such but one thing about this area is that the soil drains really well. With a bit of sun and wind in the morning the ground will dry out for good foot stomping dancing and good camping. Look forward to seeing a ton of you hooteneers this weekend.

*disclaimer: I love hootenannies and I have not been paid or contacted by T-Dawg about endorsing this event. I want similar people to have fun with us in a truly magical part of North West Georgia! See you there!

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTENANNY!!!

Next Weekend, April 5-6, is TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny!

28 Mar

HOOOOOOOTENANNY!!!

TDawg Presents has built the bi-annual TDawg Back Porch Hootenanny on quality, not quantity.  You come to a Hoot, you KNOW the music will be stellar – all the artists bring their A-game.  The Hootenanny vibe is just right, family-friendly and as relaxing as any outdoor activity can be.  The artists are very much a part of the community – once they’re done, they’ll be out there rockin’ out with everyone else!

I just want to thank you personally for considering and hopefully coming out to the spring 2013 edition of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny on April 5-6.  The forecast is showing sunny next weekend w/ ideal bonfire temperatures at night.  The music will be nothing short of outstanding – you WILL be able to leave on Sunday having heard something fresh that will keep you hooked.  Being in the great outdoors on such a pristine piece of property like Cherokee Farms for some killer music and great times with friends and family is what it’s all about.  Bring yer instruments, be ready to jam!

I realize that there are many options and/or obligations for next weekend including music both free and otherwise, 40th birthday bashes, kids’ soccer matches, the need to be at home for a weekend for once, and many more.  Thanks for coming to the Hoot!

SPREAD THE WORD, SPREAD THE LOVE, LIFE IS GOOD!

10 Days Out from TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny!

26 Mar

Hooooooooootenanny

Alrighty y’all ~ We’re getting quite close to a moment in time when our desire for the great outdoors joins forces with our constant drive for incredible live music in a serene spot know as Cherokee Farms!  A very relaxin’ spot to enjoy time with friends and family while catching some fresh music to your ears, you feel a certain release the second your drive onto the property.

I’ve always viewed Cherokee Farms as our own private state park that we are privileged to utilize for our enjoyment a few times per year, depending on how many other events you attend beside TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny twice a year (Sept 13-14 are the fall dates)

A big highlight of this spring’s edition of TDawg’s Back Porch Hootenanny is a special set that join forces of two incredible songwriters and musicians, Grammy winner Jim Lauderdale and the incomparable Rev. Jeff Mosier.  Expect the unexpected in this set, I have a feeling.  It’s a beautiful thing!  Click on the picture below for a complete schedule (thx to Kelly Gilbert for the snapshot!).
